Where do you get your supplies? I LOVE Hobby Lobby. I've had REALLY good luck getting supplies there!

  • Jan '07 RainyDayWoman

Well, we don't have a Hobby Lobby so I don't really know about that...

Walmart is ok and has some cute things, but they don't sell a lot of what I tend to be looking for and no single sheets of paper.

Michaels and AC Moore seem to be about the same and have a lot except I never like their papers...

I'm actually looking for a good spot now.. Mostly my luck has been shopping online.

  • Jan '07 Randasue

i love hl too. there used to be a M. close by, but it closed and they opened up one about 20 miles away. but to me, hl has the best sales on a regular basis, and they have great clearance too. i just bought tons of stuff that they had marked down to .50 and $1.00. i have some pics in my gallery, and i am going to add some more in a minute. the mgr. said he didn't think that all hl stores were doing this though. but i sure am glad that mine has.

  • Jan '07 Nancy Keslin

If I have to choose between the 3, I pick Michaels. I don't have a HL, and I hate going to WM!

  • Jan '07 JustMeinIN

I get mine a lot of places. Even got some at Menards. The local hardware stores (not chains) have metalware for dirt cheap. You can also find other useful items there.

  • Jan '07 Cheshirepez

I just recently discovered M and I'm loving it, I almost like it better than HL, plus it's closer for me than HL. Walmart is okay for basics like packs of CS and adhesives, I get a lot of ribbons there. But they don't have a lot of specific items like single sheets of pp or embellies that aren't stickers.

  • Jan '07 Damnielle

I haven't had much look with Michaels personally. My HL has a bigger section plus I got paper for .20 a sheet the other day (so I'm a little partial).

  • Jan '07 Buggainok

I shop at all 3, but probably like Hobby Lobby the best overall. I love to buy paper in "stack" packs and they always have a great selection. Also frequently it is on sale half-off. I don't buy paper by the sheet much at all.

I like having a whole big bunch of paper to look through and pick out what I like at home, not at the store. I can never make up my mind that quickly, and at home I can look as long as I want.

Also, I like that Michaels and HL have Coupon s and Walmart does not.

  • Jan '07 Debra K

We don't have a Hobby Lobby and I hate going to Walmark which is over 4 miles away. So my vote goes for Michaels.

  • Jan '07 Mamapajama

Hmm I dont have a HL or a micheals so I guess Walmart but dont get much there jsut adhesive!! LOL

    *gasp* FOUR WHOLE MILES!

    (just kidding!! )

Wal-Mart is good for ribbon and not much else- ours has a TERRIBLE selection of SB stuff (weird considering it's supposedly the biggest in the world)

I keep hearing about this mysterious "Hobby Lobby" and not only have I never been in one, I've never seen one and hadn't even heard of one until I started coming here!

I like Michael's- the one here in Aville recently renovated and spruced up their SB stuff, so it's nicely laid out and organized, and they're ALWAYS clean. Plus, they have a TON of other craft stuff, so I like to cruise around and see if there's things in other departments that I can add to my SB stuff.

  • Jan '07 Shopgirlaudi

HL hands down for me. They have the best stuff and just about anything you can find at the LSS. They have recently started carrying all sorts of new stuff and are doing a really good job of keeping current. They have alot of great sales and you can use your 40% off Coupon

  • Jan '07 Taterdawg

HL then ACM for me. I do not even go to Micheal's any more

  • Jan '07 Alyssa_M

I was never at a HL... I hear a lot of good things about them though!

I am definitely not a fan of walmart... too themed and cute looking.. it is not my style. I like the latest things and they have none of that. I did buy ribbon there though.

Same goes for Michaels... a new one opened about 40 minutes away and they have more stuff... some newer papers, but not very new... I guess I should say they have better brands. The M's near me is junk.

I like ACM the best out of all of them because they have newer things... like Heidi Swapp , Rhonna's clear stamps, etc.

By far I do most of my shopping online though

  • Jan '07 London

I just discovered HL this weekend and I'll be doing my shopping there from now on. micheals is too pricey, and joann's selection can be crappy some times and wal-mart almost never has what i want, so HL is my store of choice

  • Jan '07 Momto3greatkids

I'd say HL is my favorite however I noticed they don't have Coluzzle templates and Michael's does.

  • Jan '07 Mama Of A Monkey

Well I am super lucky to have tons of choices in my area....
We have Hobby Lobby, Pat Catans, Joanns, Michaels, then the odds and ends places that carry sb stuff (Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Deals, Target, and Walmart), a Hancock Fabrics (where I find awesome ribbon),

the LSS(3 all within an hour and a half of here - 1 that is 25 minutes away- 1 I pass on the way to visit my parents, and one in their town),

but my most recent discovery is Cord Camera... there has been one in the shopping town that is in the city I work in... but they only have cardstock...

but I found another Cord Camera in a town about 15 minutes from where I live and they have a better selection than the lss.

I don't have a major preference though... it depends on what I need at the moment. That directs me to which place I need to head for!!

I know all the stores soo well now because I go soo much that once I get it in my head what I am looking for I know which place to go! LOL

  • Jan '07 MomtoMattKatelynn

HL for me. I go there when they're having sales on the sb papers and stickers. It's cheaper that way. I don't buy much sb stuff at WM and we don't have a M's here! I don't know what I'm going to do when I move in the spring cos where we're going doesn't have a HL near by and only has on LSS!

  • Jan '07 London

I found the most awesome privately owned scrapping store when my fiance and I visited his parents in Rapid City SD, I miss that store and can not wait until we finally move up there so I can go back, plus they have HL

  • Jan '07 * Julie *

    Michaels. Definitely.

  • Jan '07 Scrappershelley

Out of the 3 you mentioned, HL is my favorite.

  • Jan '07 Lara514

I don't have HL, unfortunately, and our walmart is kinda far and doesn't really have too much anyway (at least they didn't the last time I was there.) Usually AC Moore is where I get stuff and online. BUT I went to Michaels the other day and was blown away by their SB section. It was huge compared to what they had before. So, Michaels may be my new place. Joanne's has nice stuff and good deals too.

  • Jan '07 Momma2Bryn

I don't have a HL and all I buy at Michaels and Walmart is adhesive.

    LSS for me.

  • Jan '07 Picture Happy

If I need something quickly I usually go to Michaels or AC moore.

But if I have time, there is a flower and craft ware house about 25 minutes from here. It's in an old warehouse building and their scrapbook section is 9,000 sq feet. they have EVERYTHING.

I also shop online too, but not too often. I hate to spend money on shipping, and it's just not the same when you can't pick it up and look at it.

  • Jan '07 Scrapandy

Out of those 3, definitely HL. They have a huge selection (5 times that of my WM) and it is much more current, new, fun stuff than either WM or M's. There is a much wider variety, not just cutesy matchy matchy princesses and puppy dog stickers. The HL is an hour away, but I'd much rather go there once a month than WM or M's (just up the streeT) any day!

That being said...i do the majority of my shopping at 2 of my 4 LSS's. Between the two, they have an INCREDIBLE selection of hot new current yummy brands, and I get 40% off at one of them for teaching classes there

  • Jan '07 ScrappyJedi

Of the 3, definitely Hobby Lobby. They have an awesome selection of great current stuff, 40% off Coupon s regularly, and they put stuff on sale 50% off all the time!

  • Jan '07 Tmmvol

Of the three, I would say Hobby Lobby, although I often shop Michael's, and Joanne's. HL has the best prices imo. I will occassionally pick up things at Walmart, but not often. We don't have an ACM here.

  • Jan '07 Lady Jae

I don't care too much for Michael's because they can never get their Coupon things straight and there selection is either non-existent or higher than other places that I could buy it from.

I have 2 Joann's at my disposal, but I prefer the Ect. store even if it's further away. I don't usually shop Walmart for my scrapping stuff with the exception of adhesive and ribbon, but even that I've turned to online shopping for.

My Hobby Lobby is like an hour away and we don't have an AC Moore. I have an LSS about 5 minutes away but their prices are pretty inflated so I don't do a whole lot of shopping there. Cord Camera I try not to go into because there is a lady there who acts like the customers are irritants, so their service has gone down the tubes.

I have enough stash to last me for a while so I will just shop my own shelves for a while!

  • Jan '07 Reyasunshine

I go to Michaels, Jo-Ann, AC Moore, Walmart (but mine has less than one aisle) and online. I like Jo-Ann best because they have the best selection of the four stores. They just opened a new one by me so they got smart... devoting a large part of the store (and about 10 aisles) to scrap-booking. LOL. I also find the best sales there because they have "generic" Jo-Ann brand embellishments. And when they have 50% off all Jo-Ann products, I STOCK UP on brads, eyelets, photo turns, etc. Love that place.

Though I have spent a great deal here at sb.com and ebay as well.

  • Jan '07 Scrappy_Bear

Of those 3 - Michaels would be best. We just opened a Hobby Lobby and I was disappointed (not much to choose from). And I only get stuff from Wal-Mart if I'm there, I don't make a special trip for scrapbooking supplies .

But we also just opened a Jo-Ann's near me and it's got more than most Jo-Ann's I've been to, so that really what I like best!

  • Jan '07 Jessica Guthrie

In So CA, we don't have AC Moore or Hobby Lobby, although I loved Hobby Lobby when I lived in IL. Locally we have Tall Mouse, Michaels and JoAnns. Tall Mouse has a decent selection, but very few sales or Coupon s. And their prices tend to be higher. Michaels just doesn't keep up with the trends fast enough. I'm not sure who their buyers are, but they need some help. I'd have to say JoAnn's is probably the best bet for me as far as box stores go, but they are always out of my favorite adhesive. I check Walmart's clearance aisle or buy adhesive there if I don't have Coupon s for somewhere else, since regular price is cheapest there, but I don't really do much shopping at Walmart. Target is pretty good for how little they have. A lot of scrap home decor stuff. Plus, if you check at the end of the season, they often have some good stuff on clearance.

  • Jan '07 Momma Crystal

I like to support friends. So I mostly stick with consultants, Stampin UP, Creative Mem, and the like. I don't think I've ever bought a scrapping supply in a store.

  • Jan '07 Twinstars

Michael's for me - there's one right down the street from my office and I can run in on my lunch break (which prevents me from shopping forever and spending too much!). Hobby Lobby is okay, but not really convenient for me - the one I've been to here (and the only one I think I've seen in Columbus) is halfway across the city and is actually sort of trashy. I drive out of my way to avoid Wal-mart for day to day items and so I've never really looked at their sb section.

  • Jan '07 Dasfaadsfgagaer

i get alot of my supplies from Hobby lobby because they always have good sales!

  • Jan '07 Unknown

Well, I don't get anything at WM for my scrapbooking anymore. After they changed the section and have all that pet stuff (don't have a pet unless you count my children) and pink stuff (have an aversion to too much pink in my life), I just went "Yuck". Michaels is right near them. I'd really like to see Michaels upgrade their paper stock personally. Hobby Lobby is 20 minutes away. Joanns has rude people and I only go there when absolutely necessary. So I guess it's Michaels first for me. And they have great customer service in the store!

One thing I heard and/or read yesterday was that WM is doing away with their fabric section completely. Makes you wonder if they aren't doing away with their crafts section as well.

  • Jan '07 CHPwife

I do NOT do Walmarts!!! No HL in Sounthern Cal. So Michaels. But I first off go to one of my lss.

  • Jan '07 JayAndXansMom

I don't have a HL near me(wish I did), WM doesn't have that great of a selection...so I guess it would have to be Mike's...even though I am not thrilled with their selection either. I prefer LSS..but don't have one of those within 25-30 minutes away...so I don't go very often.

  • Jan '07 Phoebe Kates

When I lived in a larger city, I loved going to Michaels for all kinds of craft things. I don't think they had the most up to date items, but they were more than I'd had in my previous city. I also had two lss just 15 minutes from me so I loved that.

However, I've moved back to the smaller city and all I have now are a JoAnn's (which I work at... yay discount!) a Hobby Lobby and Walmart.

I have to say that I'm quite impressed by how current Hobby Lobby tends to keep things, although I really dislike shopping there. Maybe its the whole loyalty thing or whatever.

I do most of my shopping at JoAnn's or online. I have to say that I'm getting super excited about J's scrapbooking section. We have a new CEO, and he brought a whole new set of people including buyers. In fact, the other day we got mini Autumn Leaves/Rhonna Farrer clear acrylic stamps... for ONE DOLLAR! I went crazy! LOL.

  • Jan '07 Desilu3131

Hobby Lobby is my favorite. Mine has a great selection and are always adding new products. Michaels never seems to have anything new. On occasion I find a little something at WalMart. My second fav is Archivers. I have heard good things about Cord Cam but it is way north of me.

  • Jan '07 Dreammomof3

My pick will be Micheal then HL. The only thing that I get at walmart is the cricut for $150. That was a great deal I think. I also shop at Target, Big Lots, Dollar Stores(only buy acid and lingin free items), LSS, and online.

  • Jan '07 Dreammomof3

I also like to shop at Archiver's. My experience with them were great.

  • Jan '07 Suznut

I shop HL M's and J's. HL has a GREAT selection and even better sales...you can find so many bargains even w/o the Coupon ...but having the Coupon is just an added bonus. M's selection is good too, but their sales aren't nearly as great and w/o a Coupon its really not worth it, unless its clearanced. J's has some good stuff with decent sales from time to time. WM's only good for adhesives..their SB stuff is okay.
My LSS also have great stuff~BUT there's nothing like a 50% off paper, stickers, rubons and more sale from HL...and they always have a great variety! love it!

  • Jan '07 ScrapperV

My vote is HL, too bad my area doesn't have it, but I loved it in IL. I don't shop at WM since I work at Target!

  • Jan '07 Scrapbookfary

I would rather go anywhere than go to Walmart! I hate Walmart!

  • Jan '07 Rodeeogrl

It depends on what I'm going for. I'm a true 'shopper' I know who has the better prices on EVERYTHING I buy. I go to WM for all adhesives and black & white CS, and Cricut products. I go to J's ONLY when I have a 50% off Coupon , and get storage supplies, cutters, and sometimes an embellishment or two, M, J, and WM all have great prices on Acrylic paint and ribbon, Archivers definately has the PPs and and rubons that you can't find at other stores, but I've found that shopping online (at two particular sites) usually saves me 10-40% off archivers, J and M prices for PP, tools, rub ons etc.. and you can usually find the brand new releases and things that most stores just don't carry. It's nice to have 'different' products. Also, for those who may not know... J, M, and HL all accept each others Coupon s!

  • Jan '07 Tina C

Everywhere Walmart, Dollar stores, Home Depot, Scrap Stores, Rubber stamp stores, Micheals, Joann, On-line.

  • Jan '07 R Miller

I never shop at WalMart for sb stuff, just ribbon in the sewing section. Our new superstore is a joke. I like HL, and Michael's, but by far I do most of my sb shopping online! HL and Michael's are about 50 minutes from my house, so I don't get there very often.

  • Jan '07 Jessiebabie824

    Hobby lobby.

  • Jan '07 Scrapbook Queen

We don't have HL and our walmart has nothing and unless I have a Coupon M's is WAY expensive, so it's LSS for me.

  • Jan '07 Kris Milliron

I used to have HL right by me and Joanns and walmart but moved away from them and now I have Target, and Micheals by me thier great but if you can find an Archivers or a scrapbook shop around they give u a better paper selection.
